The Paris, France-based company aims to outclass all the other streaming services on three fronts: sound quality, documentation, and editorial content. But there’s another contender that you might not have heard much about: Qobuz. Enthusiasts were again pleased when Tidal announced in 2017 that it would begin streaming hi-res audio. You’re probably familiar with Tidal: the streaming company that made a splash in the audio community in 2014 when it brought lossless CD-quality streaming to the US, UK, and Canada. Now you don’t have to choose: You can have the convenience of streaming, as well the quality of lossless CD audio and higher, using one of two services. This is where hi-res streaming enters the conversation. That’s fine for listening while cooking or driving, but not for system calibration, and not for an old-fashion listening session. ![]() ![]() The sound quality will thus be that of your Qobuz account.But it’s not the full experience. Those apps can be linked to your Qobuz account and will allow you to set the Phantoms as the audio output. If you have a Windows computer, you can stream Qobuz to your Phantom Premier system through Bluetooth or UPnP. The sound quality will thus be that of your Qobuz account. If you have an Android phone, you can stream Qobuz to your Phantom Premier system through Bluetooth or UPnP. If your Qobuz offer allows for audio files with a higher sampling frequency than that of CD, we recommend you use Audirvana (or any other UPnP app). If your Qobuz offer allows for audio files with a higher sampling frequency than that of CD, we recommend you use Upnp to stream your music. If the file sent in Airplay is in a different format, it will be downsampled or upsampled to 16bit / 44.1kHz. The music will play in CD quality 44.1kHz / 16 bit. The sound will now come out of the Phantom speakers. Launch Qobuz on your Mac or in any navigator. Open your Mac's audio settings and choose the room you have configured in the Devialet app (for example, living room) as the audio output. If you have a Mac computer, you can stream Qobuz to your Phantom Premier system through Airplay, Bluetooth, or UPnP. The sound quality will thus be that of your Qobuz account (Qobuz sublime). This app can be linked to your Qobuz account and allows you to set the Phantoms as the audio output.
